But it seems Santos are winning the transfer battle as they are in no mood to bow to Madrid's pressure.
'It is the same proposal, we had the deadline to respond until the end of the month, and I had already indicated that the answer would be 'no' and I will make it formal on Monday,' added the president.
'They offered two choices: take him now or later, but we do not want it.'
Neymar has a buy-out clause in the region of £40 million which Real Madrid were said to be willing to meet, but Ribeiro is keen to hold on to the player.
'It is complicated, I do not know if they would pay the release clause, but there is a long battle which protects us,' he said.
